Alain Nussbaumer is a Full Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC). He leads the RESLAB (Laboratoire des structures métalliques résilientes) and teaches courses on steel structures, fatigue mechanics, and existing structures. His research focuses on metallic structures, structural glass, fatigue analysis, and evaluation of existing structures. Notable consulting projects include evaluations for the Solar Impulse aircraft, Alinghi racing boat, and the Millau Viaduct. He has advised numerous PhD students and contributed to Eurocode revisions for steel structures.
