Alain Corbellari serves as a Full Professor (half-time) at the Institute of French Literature within the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. He joined Neuchâtel in 2011 while maintaining a reduced half-time position at the University of Lausanne, where he had served as Assistant Professor since 1996 and Associate Professor since 2003.
His academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Neuchâtel (1991) and doctoral work at Paris IV (1996).
Corbellari specializes in Medieval Literature, with deep expertise in chansons de geste, fabliaux, and courtly literature. His research critically examines the History of Medieval Studies and the Reception of medieval culture in modernity, while exploring interdisciplinary connections between Medieval Roman literature and musical traditions. His work bridges philological rigor with contemporary cultural analysis.
As an internationally recognized scholar, he has held visiting professorships at institutions in Arras, Budapest, Paris (École des Chartes), and Buenos Aires. He served as President of the Collegium Romanicum (Association of Swiss Romanists) from 2015 to 2020 and remains an active member of the Research Group on the History of Romance Philology at the Collège de France, alongside numerous international scholarly societies.
