Akil DuPont is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Media & Communication Arts at Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, Pace University, Pleasantville campus. He is an accomplished storyteller in theatre and film, with extensive creative output and national recognition.
His research and creative works are deeply rooted in artistic expression, particularly in African American narratives and historical themes. Notably, his award-winning work Underground, adapted from his 2010 short film, has been showcased in over 50 film festivals worldwide, earning over 40 awards including two Student Emmys. The musical explores the emotional and spiritual dimensions of slavery, freedom, and family through song and performance.
