Akemi Martin

Akemi Martin is an Adjunct Professor at The Cooper Union's School of Art, specializing in papermaking and collaborative art projects. She serves as director and master papermaker at Pace Paper in Brooklyn, collaborating with artists on handmade paper and print editions. Her teaching experience includes SUNY Purchase, Dieu Donné (NYC), and the Penland School of Craft (NC).

Education: Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Her research interests focus on innovative papermaking techniques and interdisciplinary art collaborations. Notable collaborations include the 2015 work '37P' with Leonardo Drew. She emphasizes hands-on craftsmanship and its integration with contemporary art practices.
