Aimée Ghanem is a PhD candidate and researcher at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), affiliated with the Faculty for the Study of Culture and the Department of Cultural and Social Anthropology. Her research focuses on the history of social work in Lebanon from 1948 to 1975, using ethnographic methods.
- Education: Master's in Qualitative Research from St. Joseph University (USJ), School of Social Welfare, Beirut.
Research Interests center on the development of social work in Lebanon during pre-civil war periods and crisis response, including studies on humanitarian interventions post-1975 civil war and the Beirut Port explosion. Her work involves narrative interviews, focus groups, and documentation analysis.
Publications include collaborative research on refugee social work in Lebanon, examining faith-based support systems in humanitarian contexts. Her current PhD project is part of a DAAD-funded collaboration with institutions in Germany, Jordan, and Lebanon.
