Aimee Nezhukumatathil is a Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Mississippi, where she teaches in the MFA program. She holds an M.F.A. and B.A. in English from The Ohio State University. Her research and creative work focus on poetry, environmental literature, nature writing, and Asian American literature. She is also the poetry editor of SIERRA, the national magazine of the Sierra Club.
Her academic and creative achievements include the Ohioana Award in Non-Fiction for her essay collection WORLD OF WONDERS, a Kirkus Prize finalist and Barnes & Noble Book of the Year. She has published four poetry collections, including Oceanic and Lucky Fish, and has been featured in The New York Times Magazine and ESPN Magazine. Her work has also appeared in Best American Poetry twice.
Awardees of her accolades include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation. Her contributions span creative writing, environmental advocacy, and literary education, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to literature and nature.
