About
Dr. Aileen Boshoff is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology at Rhodes University. Her research focuses on molecular chaperones in parasitic systems, particularly those of Trypanosoma brucei (causative agent of African trypanosomiasis) and Plasmodium falciparum (malaria). She aims to develop small molecule inhibitors targeting these essential proteins.
She has supervised PhD and MSc students, including David Onchonga, Fortunate Mokoena, and Stephen Bentley, within the BioSENS Research Group. Her work bridges parasitic biology, protein function analysis, and biotechnology.
