Dr. Ahmed Ragab is Associate Professor in the Program for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Johns Hopkins University. A physician-historian and documentary filmmaker, he directs the Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies and co-founded Pinwheel Productions supporting marginalized artists.
His research examines medieval Islamic medicine, colonial/postcolonial medicine, critical race studies, and queer theory. With dual expertise in medicine (Cairo University) and history (EPHE Paris), he bridges disciplinary boundaries in studying gender, sexuality, and scientific knowledge production across historical periods.
