Agnieszka Rasmus

Agnieszka Rasmus is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English Drama, Theatre and Film within the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz. She holds a research and teaching position with expertise spanning multiple areas of film studies.

Dr. Rasmus specializes in British cinema, Hollywood productions, cult films, adaptation theory, Shakespeare on screen, genre cinema, popular cinema, and seriality in contemporary culture. Her research particularly focuses on the transnational aspects of film production, examining how cultural elements transform across borders and time periods.

Her most significant scholarly contribution is the monograph Hollywood Remakes of Iconic British Films: Class, Gender and Stardom (Edinburgh University Press, 2022), which won the prestigious Janovics Center Award for Outstanding Humanities Research in Transnational Film and Theatre Studies. The book examines films made with substantial Hollywood involvement in the UK during the 1960s/1970s that were later remade as Hollywood productions in the 2000s, analyzing how class, gender, and stardom are adapted for global audiences.

Dr. Rasmus teaches British Cinema, Film Culture, Film Analysis, Cult Cinema, Adaptations, Medieval and Renaissance Literature, and coordinates Academic Presentation classes for Master's students. She actively supervises undergraduate and graduate theses focused on adaptation, British cinema, auteur cinema, digital culture, and cult film. Beyond academia, she is socially active in environmental protection and sustainable development initiatives.
