Her academic career spans multiple leadership roles within the university's educational framework.
Dr. Pfrang earned her Venia Legendi for Pedagogy in 2019 and completed her doctorate in Philosophy from the Faculty of Human Sciences at Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg in 2010. Her foundational education includes a Diploma in Education with focuses on sociology and psychology, as well as primary school teaching credentials with specialties in social studies, mathematics, German, and art, all from Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg (1999-2005).
Her research centers on inclusive primary school didactics, heterogeneity and difference in primary school settings, initial instruction and transitions in primary education, and pedagogical childhood research. She investigates methodological and theoretical foundations of child research, teacher professionalization through learning workshops, and university teaching with digital concepts for internationalizing teacher training. Her work on pedagogical terminologies across languages demonstrates her international research perspective.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on inclusive education, particularly examining learning atmospheres in heterogeneous classrooms, children's perspectives on educational experiences, and the relationship between teacher-student dynamics in inclusive settings. Her research consistently emphasizes participatory approaches, ethical considerations in diverse classrooms, and the importance of methodologically sound child-centered research.
Prof. Pfrang actively contributes to academic service through memberships in the German Society for Educational Sciences (DfGE), specifically in Section 2 General Educational Science (Commission for Qualitative Educational and Biographical Research) and Section 5 School Pedagogy (Commission for Primary School Research and Primary School Pedagogy), as well as the German University Association (DHV). She serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Primary School Research (ZfG).
Her current research projects include professionalizing future primary school teachers in university learning workshops, examining participation in inclusive teaching, studying pedagogical terminologies across languages in international collaboration, and conducting interview projects with students about their ideal school environments. These projects reflect her commitment to bridging theoretical knowledge with practical classroom application.
