Afonso Bras

Afonso Bras is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he also teaches and is completing his Master's degree. He holds roles as an assistant researcher at the Public Law Research Center (Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon), guest assistant at the same Faculty, and guest assistant at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management (ISEG) of the University of Lisbon. His academic journey began with a Bachelor's in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (2014).

His research interests span Public Law, European Union Law, Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, Legal Theory, and Criminal Law. Notable publications include analyses on Hart's legal theory, international human rights mechanisms, EU legal frameworks, and constitutional responses to crises.

He has contributed as a journal editor for ePública – Revista Eletrónica de Direito Público (2020) and authored works on EU law case studies and emergency governance during epidemics. His work bridges theoretical legal scholarship with practical governance challenges, particularly in the Portuguese and European contexts.

Afonso Bras has no recorded scientific awards but maintains active roles in academic publishing and editorial work. He teaches courses such as 'Introdução ao Direito' and 'Foundations of Law' across various degree programs at ISEG and the Faculty of Law.
