Adrien Rousseau

Dr. Adrien Rousseau is a Principal Investigator and Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research) at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit within the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. His research program focuses on fundamental mechanisms of cellular homeostasis, particularly the regulation of proteasome function and assembly during stress conditions.

Dr. Rousseau's research interests center on proteasome biology and cellular stress response mechanisms. His work investigates how cells maintain protein quality control through the proteasome system, with particular focus on the intersection between actin cytoskeleton dynamics and proteasome homeostasis, TORC1 signaling pathways in proteasome regulation, and translation control mechanisms during cellular stress. His fingerprint analysis reveals strong expertise in proteasome biology (100%), homeostasis (77%), assembly chaperones (72%), TORC1 signaling (68%), and proteasome assembly (60%).

His recent publication record shows significant productivity, with research spanning proteasome assembly mechanisms, stress response pathways, and the role of actin remodeling in proteostasis. Dr. Rousseau actively supervises research and has been involved in multiple significant projects including the MRC QQR program (2018-2024) and currently leads the BBSRC-funded 26S-NonoLuc project (2024-2025) developing novel assays for proteasome assembly. He serves on the boards of both the School of Life Sciences and Proteostasis UK, and regularly presents his work at international conferences including the Proteastasis UK conference.

His laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of proteasome homeostasis, particularly how cells adapt proteasome function during stress conditions through integration with cytoskeletal dynamics and signaling pathways.
