Adrian Oehmen is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland, where he leads research in bioprocess engineering focused on wastewater treatment, resource recovery, and sustainable materials. His work spans multiple subfields including enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR), microbial entrapment, acid mine drainage, polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production, and metabolic modelling of mixed microbial cultures. With over 100 journal publications and leadership in 30+ research projects, Oehmen holds key roles in the International Water Association (IWA) and serves as Associate Editor for Water Research.
