Adrian Moore is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford and a Fellow and Tutor in Philosophy at St Hugh's College. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2024. His research focuses on Early Modern Philosophy, Ethics, Kant, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Mathematics, and Wittgenstein, among other areas. Moore holds a BA from King’s College, Cambridge, and a BPhil and DPhil from Balliol College, Oxford.
His career includes roles such as Vice-Principal of St Hugh's College (2017–2020), President of the Aristotelian Society (2014–2015), and Delegate of Oxford University Press (2014–2024). He is the Literary Executor for Bernard Williams and has held editorial roles, including co-editing MIND and editing Bernard Williams’ Philosophy as a Humanistic Discipline.
Moore’s publications include influential works like The Infinite (1990), The Evolution of Modern Metaphysics (2012), and Gödel’s Theorem: A Very Short Introduction (2022). He has also contributed to BBC Radio 4’s A History of the Infinite.
