Adrian Markle is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Falmouth University since 2019. He holds a PhD from the University of Exeter (2020), an MA from Bath Spa University (2012), and a BA from the University of Victoria (2010). His research focuses on class, gender, and sport in contemporary literature, particularly boxing narratives. He has published short stories in journals like EVENT and Aethlon, earning Pushcart and Best Small Fictions nominations. His novel Bruise explores identity crises in athletes. He is actively involved in the Sport Literature Association (SLA), serving as its President (2023-2024) and leading anti-racism initiatives. He teaches courses in creative writing, contemporary literature, and global literature.

Advising & Grants: Supervises three PhD students exploring creative writing in global contexts, podcast storytelling, and autism in literature. His professional roles include chairing SLA conferences and advising the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE).
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the SLA Anti-racism committee and contributes to interdisciplinary research at Falmouth University’s creative writing programs.
