Associate Professor Adrian Kelly is an academic and clinical psychologist at QUT's School of Psychology & Counselling, specializing in adolescent mental health, substance use prevention, and community-based interventions. He leads the Child Adversity, Mental Health and Resilience theme at QUT's Centre for Child Health and Well-being and is a Fellow of the APS Clinical College.
Education: PhD (UQ), MBA (UQ), Master of Clinical Psychology (UQ), Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology (UQ), BSc (UQ).
Research focuses on translational prevention strategies for youth substance use, polydrug use, and mental health challenges. He has led ARC Discovery and NHMRC grants, emphasizing community coalitions and evidence-based practices. Recent work includes evaluating interventions to reduce youth crime and alcohol harm across three Australian states.
Publications span 120+ peer-reviewed papers, many co-led by his supervisees. Awards include the NHMRC Career Development Fellowship and the Australian Federal Government's Excellence in Research Award (2013). He supervises HDR students and teaches courses on addictive behaviors and clinical interventions.
