Dr. Adrian J Howkins is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental History at the Department of History (Historical Studies), University of Bristol. His research spans the polar regions, national parks, and the intersection of religion with environmental history.
Research Interests: He focuses on Antarctic history, serving as co-PI on the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long Term Ecological Research site and writing a book on the region. He collaborates with Colorado State University’s Public Lands History Centre on US national parks and is developing a UK national parks history project. His recent work explores the environmental history of religion, informed by training at Sarum College in the Church of England.
