Dr. Aditya Raghunandan (known as Adi) is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan-Dearborn. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Rochester focusing on brain fluid transport in aging and neurodegeneration.
- Education: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from RPI
Dr. Raghunandan’s research investigates how fluid transport and interfacial interactions destabilize biomolecules (proteins), contributing to diseases like Alzheimer’s and failures in protein-based biotherapeutic manufacturing. His expertise spans biofluid dynamics, microfluidics, rheology, protein chemistry, and cellular biology.
His work has been published in high-impact journals such as eLife, Physical Review Letters, Journal of Fluid Mechanics, and Soft Matter (cover article). He has also received the Steadman Family Postdoctoral Associate Prize in Interdisciplinary Research.
