Adeline Wong

Adeline Wong is a Senior Lecturer in Composition at the YST Conservatory, National University of Singapore. Her music is characterized by bold textures, kaleidoscopic colors, and a focus on material economy. She composes for orchestras, chamber ensembles, music theatre, and film, with works performed globally by ensembles like the Belgian National Orchestra, Bang on A Can, and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Education: MMus from the Eastman School of Music (USA), postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music London (scholarship recipient, Cobbett and Hurlstone Composition Prize winner). Teachers include Joseph Schwantner, Christopher Rouse, and Edwin Roxburgh.

Research interests emphasize compositional innovation in contemporary classical music and cross-cultural collaboration. Notable achievements include curating Malaysia's first 21st-century piano score anthology (Free Hand Anthology I, distributed by Faber Music) and directing the Free Hand Festival 2019. She serves as President of the Malaysian Composers Collective, promoting Malaysian contemporary music internationally.
