About
Adam P. Dicker is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University, with joint appointments in Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. His mission, "Empowering patients through translational cancer research," drives his leadership of an interdisciplinary team focused on defining fundamental mechanisms for combined modality radiation treatment and translating innovations to clinical cancer care.
His research spans radiation oncology, prostate cancer biology, and translational medicine. Key contributions include defining edema's influence on prostate brachytherapy dosimetry, correlating radiotherapy protocol deviations with survival outcomes (JNCI, 2012), investigating "self-seeding" metastasis mechanisms, and developing "smart needles" for diagnostic/therapeutic applications. He pioneers signal transduction agent-radiation combinations and first-in-human developmental therapeutic trials.
Dr. Dicker received the Fellow of ASTRO (FASTRO) designation in 2014 for exceptional contributions to research, education, patient care, and leadership in radiation oncology.
He has mentored over 40 residents, many now established clinician-scientists globally. As Principal Investigator of a DoD Prostate Synergy Grant and recipient of Prostate Cancer Foundation funding, his work bridges preclinical discovery with clinical implementation through NRG Oncology and RTOG frameworks.
He coordinates Jefferson's radiation oncology research team and co-chairs NRG Oncology's Translational Science Committee, directing the Integrated Translational Genoproteomics Center initiative. His authority spans solid tumor translational research with emphasis on predictive biomarkers, preclinical models, and molecular signatures for clinical trial development.
