Adam Oberlin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of German at Princeton University. He received his PhD in Germanic Studies from the University of Minnesota in 2012 and has taught linguistics, Germanic languages, medieval literature, and European history since 2007. His research spans historical linguistics, digital textual analysis, and content-based instruction.
Research interests include:
- Historical and corpus linguistics
- Digital approaches to textual analysis
- Non-canonical subject marking in Germanic languages
- Medieval reception history in contemporary culture
He serves as Academic Director of Princeton-in-Vienna, language coordinator for advanced German courses, and digital editor for New Norse Studies. Awards include grants from Princeton's 250th Anniversary Fund and the Center for Digital Humanities.
Recent Publications Focus: Medieval German lexicography, periodization in literary history, and Germanic cultural reception in modern media.
