Adam Mahoney

Dr. Adam Mahoney is an Associate Professor in Forensic and Applied Psychology at Edinburgh Napier University's School of Applied Sciences. With 24 years of experience as a Consultant Chartered Forensic Psychologist, he specializes in gender-responsive approaches to female offending and interpersonal trauma. He developed the Compassionate Recovery and Neurological Empowerment (CRANE) program, focusing on trauma-informed interventions for women in prisons. His research integrates mindfulness and compassion-focused therapies to address self-harm, PTSD, and violent offending behaviors. Mahoney also provides professional supervision to forensic psychology trainees and consults for organizations. His work bridges clinical practice and academic research, emphasizing therapeutic relationships and the impact of childhood trauma.
