Adam MacLeod

Adam MacLeod is a Professor of Law and Katherine A. Ryan Chair for Global and International Law at St. Mary’s University School of Law. He holds affiliations with the Center for Religion, Culture and Democracy (Senior Research Fellow) and Princeton University’s James Madison Program. His career includes judicial clerkships, legal practice, and roles in the U.S. Coast Guard and Alabama Judicial College.

Research Interests: Focus on property law, natural law, constitutional law, religious liberty, and legal philosophy. His work bridges theoretical and practical dimensions, exploring topics like regulatory takings, moral neutrality in law, and the intersection of law with culture and ethics.

Publications: Authored four books, including *Property and Practical Reason* (2015) and *The Age of Selfies* (2020). His articles span property theory, constitutional law, and legal ethics, emphasizing foundational principles of rights and duties. Recent work engages cyber law, equity jurisprudence, and natural law’s relevance to modern legal challenges.

Grants & Advising: Served as a fellow at Princeton and George Mason Universities. His advisory roles include auxiliary positions in the U.S. Coast Guard and contributions to legal policy debates on religious exemptions, marriage law, and public accommodation.
