Adam Klaus is a Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim, Germany, and holds the Nuffield Professorship in Economics at the University of Oxford, U.K. (currently on leave). He has been affiliated with these institutions since 2018 and 2019, respectively. Previously, he served as Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim from 2008 to 2018 and worked in the Research Department of the European Central Bank as an Economist/Senior Economist/Principal Economist from 2004 to 2008.
His research focuses on Macroeconomics & Finance, Learning and Expectations Formation, Information Economics, and Monetary Economics. He has received notable awards, including the Carl-Menger Prize (2016) and the Banque de France–Toulouse School of Economics Prize (2012). He led major grants, such as the ERC Starting Grant (2011–2016) and contributed to initiatives like the Graduate School of Economic and Social Science (GESS), securing significant funding.
Additional affiliations include Research Fellow roles at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), CESifo, and the Center for Financial Studies (CFS). He chairs the Monetary Theory & Policy Committee at the German Economic Association and serves on the Academic Advisory Board of the German Ministry of Finance.
