About
Professor Adam Grochowalski is the founder and former head of the Trace Analysis Laboratory at the Cracow University of Technology’s Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology. He specialized in environmental chemistry, particularly in the analysis of dioxins, furans, PCBs, and other hazardous compounds in environmental and industrial samples. His work focused on reducing emissions from industrial processes and advancing analytical methodologies.
Prof. Grochowalski held significant international roles, including membership in the European Joint Research Center’s dioxin research program, participation in CEN standardization committees (CEN 264 WG 101), and expert advisory roles for the UN’s Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants. He contributed to the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Analytical Chemistry Committee and collaborated with organizations like the Polish Smog Alert on environmental advocacy.
His legacy is honored through the laboratory’s renaming to Laboratory of Trace Analysis named after Professor Adam Grochowalski in October 2021. The lab, accredited under AB 749, employs state-of-the-art GC-MS/MS systems (e.g., TSQ 8000 EVO, TSQ9000) for environmental and industrial contaminant analysis, emphasizing both precision and client consultation.
