About
Dr. Adam Fletcher is a UKRI Future Leadership Senior Fellow in Virology at the University of Glasgow, leading an interdisciplinary research group at the Centre for Virus Research (CVR). His work integrates virology, chemical biology, and molecular biology to study host defense enzymes at the host-pathogen interface, focusing on ubiquitin ligases (E3s) and their role in viral restriction.
- Key Collaborations: Dr. Alfredo Castello, Dr. Sam Wilson, Dr. Chris Boutell, Dr. Ben Brennan, Prof. Massimo Palmarini (University of Glasgow), Prof. Greg Towers (UCL), Dr. Leo James (MRC-LMB), Prof. Satpal Virdee (University of Dundee), Dr. Eleanor Gaunt (University of Edinburgh)
- Research Focus: Host-pathogen interactions, ubiquitin ligase activity, non-protein ubiquitination (lipids/carbohydrates), and therapeutic exploitation of antiviral enzymes.
- Grants: UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship (2021-2025).
- Students: Arda Balci (Research Assistant), Eilidh Rivers, Emma Davies, and Hollie Jackson-Ireland (PhD candidates).
- Publications: 15 most recent works span HIV restriction, ubiquitin signaling, TRIM protein family dynamics, and novel biochemical methods for studying E3 ligases.
