About
Adam Clare is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia (Faculty of Applied Science). He holds the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET). His research focuses on sustainable manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing (materials, processes, design), electrical discharge machining, electrolyte jet machining, and stochastic design tools.
- Current research questions address digital twins for AM components, stochastic design in aerospace/biomedical applications, and sustainable energy manufacturing.
- Recent work explores zero-recast EDM, chemical recovery of spent powders, and microstructural manipulation in LPBF.
- He has authored/co-authored landmark reviews in Powder Bed Fusion and Surface Integrity in Metal Machining.
