Adam Barnes is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science. He holds a B.S. (1992) and M.S. (1995) in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech. His expertise spans sensors and instrumentation, with specialization in heat flux sensors and fiber optic technologies.
Prior to academia, he designed heat flux sensors at Vatell Corporation and conducted research on high-temperature sapphire fiber sensors. His publications focus on thermal measurement, optical interferometry, and sensor stabilization techniques.
Mr. Barnes teaches courses in electrical engineering fundamentals and instrumentation. He is a member of ASEE and AAAS with strong interests in STEM pedagogy and engineering education innovation.
