About
Abril Castro Aguilera is a Researcher at the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences, University of Oslo. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Girona (2017) and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Guanajuato (Mexico) and the University of Oslo. Her research focuses on computational NMR spectroscopy of transition-metal complexes, ab initio molecular dynamics, relativistic quantum methods, and DFT modeling.
- Education:
- PhD in Chemistry, University of Girona, Spain (2017)
- Master of Science in Chemistry, University of Guanajuato, Mexico (2012)
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, University of Guanajuato, Mexico (2010)
Her research interests include advancing computational methods for NMR prediction, particularly for metal complexes, and exploring relativistic effects in molecular dynamics. She has contributed to studies on CO₂ reduction catalysis, halogen-bonded systems, and supramolecular chemistry.
Notable achievements include a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship (2019–2021) and the National Chemistry Prize for Best Master’s Thesis (2013). Her work has been supported by grants such as the Young Research Talent grant from the Research Council of Norway.
- Grants:
- Young Research Talent Grant (8 MNOK), Research Council of Norway (2021)
Her lab focuses on theoretical chemistry, with ongoing projects on electrochemical CO₂ reduction mechanisms and relativistic effects in NMR spectroscopy.
