Abner Korn

Abner Korn, MD is a Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, serving as Director of Gynecology at San Francisco General Hospital. His academic career spans several decades with significant contributions to female pelvic medicine and global women's health.

Dr. Korn completed his B.A. in Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania (1992), earned his M.D. from Yale Medical School (1984), and completed his Ob/Gyn residency at UCLA Medical Center (1984-1988). His research focuses on Female Pelvic Medicine, Reconstructive Surgery, Surgical Education, and Obstetric Fistula Repair with particular emphasis on African healthcare systems in Rwanda and Uganda.

His publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly activity with recent work (2020-2024) centered on female genital fistula, including rehabilitation programming, sexual activity outcomes, contraceptive preferences, reintegration trajectories, and caregiver experiences in Uganda.
