Abhay Divekar

Abhay Divekar, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in pediatric cardiology and interventional catheterization. He joined the faculty in 2021 after completing fellowships in pediatric cardiology and cardiac critical care. His research focuses on clinically relevant animal models and innovative interventional cardiac techniques. Divekar holds multiple prestigious fellowships, including from the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the American College of Cardiology. He has authored over 40 publications and contributed to key textbooks like Catheter-Based Valve and Aortic Surgery. His work spans pediatric cardiac interventions, radiation safety in catheterization labs, and novel diagnostic techniques such as dual-energy CT perfusion analysis.

Professional Contributions: Co-Chair of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions’ Fellows Course, and active in multidisciplinary teams such as the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT). His recent work addresses systemic inflammatory syndromes in neonates and advancements in lymphatic system interventions.
