About
Abdel Razik Sebak is a Professor and Tier I Concordia University Research Chair in Millimeter-wave Antennas and Systems, affiliated with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Concordia University. He holds prestigious titles such as IEEE Fellow (2012) and Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (2014). His research focuses on antenna engineering and computational electromagnetics, including millimeter-wave antennas, beamforming systems, reconfigurable structures, and electromagnetic modeling.
His work involves sponsored projects on ultra-wideband antennas, dielectric resonator antennas, and mm-wave detection/imaging technologies. He has contributed to advancements in phased arrays, reflectarrays, and high-gain antennas for 5G and satellite applications. Key contributions include the design of low-loss ridge gap waveguide components and the development of AI-driven inverse design methodologies.
Dr. Sebak has received notable awards such as the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Best Chapter Award and the Governor General’s Gold Medal (co-supervised). He has chaired major conferences like the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Symposium (2020) and served on numerous technical committees, including roles in IEEE RAB, CCECE, and the Engineering Institute of Canada. His technical leadership spans over two decades, with significant roles in organizing and reviewing conferences and grants.
His research emphasizes minimizing mutual coupling in MIMO systems, enhancing antenna efficiency via metamaterials, and optimizing radiation patterns using advanced lens technologies. He has pioneered transparent electromagnetic surfaces for CubeSat applications and explored graphene-based metasurfaces for terahertz beam generation. Current trends in his publications highlight reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, AI-driven design, and terahertz frequency innovations.
