Aaron Wyanski is an Assistant Professor of Music Composition at the University of Maine at Farmington, Department of Music. His work bridges composition, performance, and interdisciplinary education. He holds a DMA from The Hartt School (2018), an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts (2015), and a BM from Purchase College (2006).
His research explores themes of memory, perspective, and vulnerability, informed by diverse performance experiences including jazz big band tours, NYC's CBGB performances, and classical piano recitals. Wyanski has been commissioned by ensembles like the Amaranth String Quartet and has participated in residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Vermont College of Fine Arts.
As an educator, he contributed to the interdisciplinary team awarded the inaugural Sweet Briar College/Virginia Center Collaborative Teaching Fellowship. His artistic practice integrates nature walks, black tea rituals, and repeated viewing of Columbo episodes to inspire creativity.
