About
Dr. Aaron Trowbridge is a Lecturer in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at The University of Manchester, leading the Trowbridge Group focused on designing sustainable catalytic platforms for advanced synthetic methodologies. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (2014-2019) and a Master of Chemistry from Imperial College London (2010-2014). His research emphasizes molecular oxygen editing, sustainable photocatalysis using red light and non-rare metals, and microenvironment mapping via proximity labeling technologies.
Key research themes include:
- Developing low-valent oxygen intermediates for atom-efficient molecule editing
- Creating photocatalytic systems with enhanced sustainability
- Designing proximity probes for biomolecular interaction discovery
Awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship (2020) and Reaxys PhD Prize (2019), his work bridges organic synthesis and chemical biology. He currently supervises PhD students and collaborates internationally to advance photocatalytic methodologies and their biomedical applications.
