Dr. Aaron Thompson serves as the Director of Institutional Research and Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Southern Nazarene University (SNU). He holds a B.S. from Olivet Nazarene University (1997), MAE (2005), and an Ed.D. (2015) from Argosy University. His career spans over two decades, beginning with 12 years of K-12 teaching in physical education and health, followed by roles as athletic director and coach. At Olivet Nazarene University (2009–2019), he served as faculty in the Exercise and Sports Science Department, department chair, and Undergraduate Director of Persistence and Academic Advising. At SNU, he has held faculty and department chair roles alongside his current administrative responsibilities.

His research focuses on the impact of high school physical education on college students’ physical activity habits and institutional strategies to enhance student persistence. Outside academia, he enjoys cycling, completing multiple century rides.
