Aaron Hawkins

Aaron Hawkins is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Brigham Young University, where he directs the university cleanroom and co-directs the IMMERSE undergraduate research program. An IEEE and OSA Fellow, his optofluidic innovations enable precise biomarker detection through integrated photonic systems.

Research breakthroughs include:

• Nanopore-optofluidic platforms for viral RNA quantification
• High-sensitivity waveguide spectrometers
• Multi-mode interference biosensors

Honored with the 2019 Photonics Society Engineering Achievement Award, he has authored 400+ publications and co-edited the Optofluidics Handbook. His cleanroom advancements support campus-wide nanofabrication initiatives.
