Aanchal Saraf

Aanchal Saraf is an Assistant Professor of Comparative American Studies at Oberlin College, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on entangled geographies of war, empire, knowledge systems, and environmental impact, particularly examining the aftermath of U.S. nuclear testing in the Marshall Islands. She employs archival analysis, ethnography, and cultural critique in her work with nuclear-displaced Marshallese communities in Hawai‘i.

Her current book project, Atomic Afterlives, Pacific Archives, explores how colonial fallout reshapes geopolitical and disciplinary perspectives of the Pacific. Publications appear in venues like Journal of Asian American Studies, Women & Performance, and Journal of Transnational American Studies.
