Édouard KOUASSI is a Clinical Professor at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medicine. His research focuses on neuroimmunology, brain-immune system interactions, and the effects of drugs on the immune system. He holds a B. Pharm (1979) and Ph.D. in Pharmacology (1985) from the University of Montreal, followed by postdoctoral training in Immunology at Hôpital Edouard-Herriot and Lyon 1 University (1990).
Key research areas include neuroimmunological alterations in strokes, serotonin receptor regulation on lymphocytes, and immunotoxicology. He has led projects such as the Projet Sichature infrastructure initiative (2013–2015) and studies on chronic stress impacts in workers (2010–2015), funded by the MESRST and IRSC. Collaborations include work on electronic medication adherence tools (2010–2011).
He has supervised over 10 graduate students, including studies on cytokine dysregulation in schizophrenia, neuroimmune mechanisms in depression, and red blood cell survival.
